I lay in the Shaman circle on the eve of Wisdom Star, lulling myself to sleep despite the anticipation, our ceremonial fires crackling in the dark, filling my mind with heady dreams and lofty thoughts as I drifted off. Twenty-eight years is truly something worth celebrating, but with this upcoming milestone, I find myself naively dreaming of what the rest of our year could look like. I plunged into sleep and came upon an unpleasant recollection. Red Flare 2 kicked off in May 2023. I'm not sure how long it ran for, but I think it's safe to say everyone is craving an event. The Phoenix shards event in November is actually what sealed the deal for my return. While it was fun and provided a much-needed spark of life to the community, a look around shows how much TK is craving another "Official" event. I dream that this week, as we celebrate by brutally slaughtering every creature in the kingdoms in the name of experience under a bloodred Wisdom star, an entry to the Lost Mines is uncovered, or the Pirates encroach our shores, or a crack in the walls of Buya reopens for another generate to discover the Asmodi and Iron Hands. While a new and exciting story would be great, these kingdoms have a rich history of events to tap into. Re-run a recent event and engagement will spike. In the same vein, I dreamt that the kingdoms began to see automated events. This might take a little more effort, especially when it comes to scaling earlier events, but to have older events on a rotation would be amazing. Again, our rich history has incredible wells to tap from. If there isn't time to develop new stories, a regular cadence drawing on the existing event pool is a viable option. I never got to explore Kajang's Crypts, and missed the Zibong every time they've terrorized the land. I'd love the chance to have Mines in the Fall, Pirates in the Summer, and one or two "greatest hits" events each year. New content is great, but in the meantime, automating a few event releases would bump up engagement (and start to address the rampant inflation in this community). Bring back older events on a regular cadence, automate those releases if there is no time to manually trigger them. Though I tossed and turned, still I dreamt, my dreams at this point blowing past wishful thinking into full-blown fever dreams. I dreamt that under that same bloodred Wisdom Star, a force rumbled once again in the woodlands to the west of Nagnang. A quest was reawakened, simpler this time. I watched as our numbers surged and the community, with guidance from the Dream Weavers, built the first new Woodlands Armour, just ahead of Santa Mhul's return. Gods, speak with your community, and bring back Woodlands armour. Strangely, next I dreamt of Drywater. He stood in front of the Buya arena and announced the return of regularly scheduled, true bloodlusts. I was beginning to wake, and things were fuzzy, but perhaps he said they would be on Saturdays, just before TAG/LAG? (please) | |
