I reached out to Fenlong for Archery training and I was impressed! I learned that a bow must be made from strong wood, with notches carved to hold the bowstring in place. I was surprised to learn that the string could be made from animal intestine, though it serves well for the recoil of the bow. The arrows are also made from strong wood, with feathers attached using sap or tied in place so they may fly straight. The tip of an arrow can be made for different purposes as well; even a pebble can be used for training and target practice, while a sharp piece of metal may be used for hunting. Cloth or leather can then be used to carry the arrows in a quiver. I have come to see that archery is more than simply drawing a bow and loosing an arrow. There is much work and skill involved in making the bow and arrows, as well as patience needed to use them properly. I appreciate the time you spent teaching me and the knowledge you shared.
