White sheets beneath the sweet summer heat, She lay, the girl in gray, staring out at the world, Where an explosion of colour and light unfurled, She came to her knees, mouth agape in her seat. Summer dreams drifted down the window sill, All the while her cold heart sat frozen still, A blend of colour and heat, kaleidoscope reels, Her heart suddenly burst, a blossom of feels. She leapt, reeled, her head spun and spun, Her heart suddenly racing with things left undone, She strode out, face burning in the sunlight.. Her face aghast, forgetting she'd lost the night. Though she daylight endeavours she often shun'd.. Something felt right about this day. Something whispered to the girl in gray. So her feet beat the street, Her eyes burned soft heat, Strangers that her face did meet, Turned averse, feet turned fleet. That thing in her eyes, Caught them all by surprise, That fire whispereing there, Set all their fears aflare. But she noticed them not. Not the tiniest thought. Fate whispered in her ear, Her fortune drew ever near. Then, much to her chagrin, A voice beckoned her away, A voice called the girl in gray, And so quickly did she fade... Through haze and ways and evergreens, Through murk and maze and ways unseen, She found herself past a Castle of Black, In courtyards of gray, her clever knack.. For finding the way, to the end of her path. In the quiet she listened, To words that glistened, Glowed and shown, Soft treasures unknown. And a blush to bring her to her knees. Struck down fast, lost admist the trees. But fate, ever fickle, was now hers to seize.. And so she did, she did as she pleased.. Brought heaven down to her very knees.. With a gasp and the softest of pleas.. A kiss unto thee, Two hearts set free. ~Z | |
