** A dagger pine a weathered note to the board. The parchment bears faded stains and the scent of pine and campfire smoke. **

It's been many moons since my boots have walked the polished cobbles of these towns and kingdoms. For an old recluse, visiting town is an exception taken cautiously.

There are those who believe that a spirit animal is chosen because it possesses qualities one wishes to have. I do not believe this.

Ranging beyond the furthest mountain peaks and through the deep lush valleys and across the raging white water takes away the preoccupation with glory or status. It strips away the comfort of robes and fancy bed chambers. For many years I lived beyond these kingdoms. The forests became my shelter, the rivers my guides, and the changing seasons my companions.

During those years I spent countless hours watching the creatures that shared those lands. Some relied upon strength... Others relied upon speed. Each had its place.

I often found myself observing the Fox.

The fox does not command attention. It does not seek glory. Most who pass through the forest never know it was there at all.. Yet it endures. It watches. It listens, and it adapts. When the world changing around it, the Fox changes with it. When hardship comes, it find another path forward. Always forward.

After many years away, I returned to the kingdoms and found much had changed. Familiar faces had vanished. New generations walked roads I once knew well. I could have spent my days mourning what was lost.

Instead, I chose to adapt.

The Fox taught me that long before I understood the lesson.

Its cleverness is not trickery. Its adaptability is not weakness. Both are expressions of wisdom. The Fox survives because it understands that every season eventually changes, and those who endure must learn to change with it.

When I reflect upon my own journey, no other animal feels as familiar.

For this reason, I choose to devote myself to the Fox.

Very Respectfully,
