*A well worn parchment is pinned to the board with rose thorns* There is room beside my fire for one more. I've spent more years wandering beyond the roads than I have any business counting. I've followed tracks until they disappeared beneath snow, slept beneath trees whose names most have forgotten, hunted quarry across lands where maps were of little use, and learned long ago that the wilderness gives up its secrets only to those patient enough to listen. Now I find myself with something I did not have before: a responsibility to pass some of it on. I am seeking one hopeful who believes the Ranger Circle may be where they belong. Understand what I am offering. I will not drag you by the wrist to the Circle and call the journey complete. If you walk with me, you will learn as Rangers have always learned: with dirt beneath your boots and the wilderness around you. We will scout. We will track. We will hunt. We will make camp when the road grows long, learn what can be gathered when provisions grow thin, and discover why a Ranger pays attention to the broken branch everyone else walked past. Some days we may find exactly what we went looking for. Other days the trail will disappear into an old mine filled with foul birds and leave us with more questions than answers. Such is the wilderness. If, after walking together for a time, you still hear the call of the Circle, I will guide you home. I am accepting one student now. If you believe that place beside the fire may be yours, find me. Come prepared to walk. Cian "Wise" Deluge The Grey Fox Ranger Guide | |
