I have spent some time learning the game of G'oh recently. It is especially helpful as Kugnae's G'oh boards and shop is right next door to the Tao Te Ching. There aren't many people that play anymore but it is a fun game. Stoney, who runs the shop, is always eager for visitors and to teach newbies the game of G'oh. Its a game that requires concentration, focus, skill, and foresight. As a Diviner, I figured I'd excel at this. Stoney has quickly humbled me in my assumption. In between games, he's been a pleasure to talk to. He's naturally curious and very smart. He seems a bit disappointed that more Diviners don't visit him as he is intrigued by all of our methods. I've talked to him about my studies (without revealing any of the Diviners' secrets.) He's especially interested in my latest study of crystallomancy and wonders if bits of limestone or obsidian would be useful for that. I point out that large pieces of obsidian can be used in scrying methods but may not work so well for crystal gazing. We go back and forth about the possibility of this when I finally decide I need to show him how crystal gazing works. "What question is on your mind?" I ask him. He thinks for a moment before saying "The community around here once had a great interest in the game of G'oh. There'd be several matches held a week and even the occasional tournaments. Will this enthusiasm for the game ever return?" Ahh, what an excellent question! I pull a white amber from my pocket and place it in the center of the table in front of us. I lean in close, clearing my mind of distractions, focusing on Stoney's question, and concentrate on the white amber in front of us. Slowly the colors start to swirl and shapes appear. The visions begin with a sticky golden honey color emerges. The shape of a family sitting around ignoring each other flashes quickly through. It is replaced by a large but brilliant and obnoxiously orange shape. It appears to be looking for something out of mere curiosity. It swipes across and a light green pattern of zig-zagging lines appear. It tries to lead the large orange shape into space of richness. A feeling of calmness overcomes everything. "Whoa, do you feel that?" Stoney's question interrupts the vision and I come to. I smile and tell him about the visions I witnessed in the white amber. "But what does that all mean?" He asks. "Let me explain... The community is stuck in their ways. They pursue wealth, power and glory for themselves. There is greed and selfish-ness. The community congregates around each other but at the same time they ignore each other. Each lost in their own world. This attitude does not support or care about G'oh. The disturbingly orange shape that lumbers through is a slow recognition that the current status is not acceptable. It is curious and wants to learn more and become involved in something more than itself. In its anger, it unleashes a thread of curiosity that leads it to explore other things. These things will bring peace and unity. "Is that thing that brings peace and unity G'oh" Stoney asks hopefully. "It could be" I reply "but it will take great effort and someone will need to lead it there. As shown in the vision, it doesn't discover new things on its own." | |
