I have spent much of my youth studying the ways of the Mage, the path of Mystery under the tutelage of Haedu, Kugnae's very own Mage Guildmaster. He is wise and as old as time itself. His patience is the stuff of legends. He is the person I showed the mysterious ice crystal to when it fell from the sky. He is the one who first suggested it is most likely a sign from the Heavens that I hold a special gift. To unlock the secrets of the ice crystal, I would have to unlock the secrets of this gift. Thus I began studying under the Divine Order. Even after delving in the Way of the Diviners, I would still visit Haedu from time to time. He still has much to teach me, especially as I grow in power myself. But it also nice to chat with him and catch up on things. He will remain a lifelong mentor for me. Though he would never let me practice my magic spells on him or even in his room, he has let me practice some of divination methods with him. So of course when I start studying a new one, he gets one of my first readings. And so it is with the Tarot. Any good reading starts with a good question, and he prompted me with "What will it take for Mages to come back to me for quests instead of going to the Incubator?" I blushed slightly at this question as since I've joined the Enigma Clan, I've gone to their quest master more than I have Haedu. But I didn't let that distract me. I shuffled the deck and started placing cards. The first card representing the present state of things is the River Tarot. The River is a minor obstacle but can easiy be overcome through wading or swimming across. It is in constant motion and a state of renewal. It represents the continuous movement that is always present in nature. The second card is revealed to be the Sun Card. This card represents hope, success, and light in the World. It is a prosperous time and gains should be expected. This is a very good sign that things will pick up again. The last card revealed is the Star Card. It also represents hope and light, but also hidden power. It is the dim light in what seems to be a darkened world. Even in dire times, if we have hope, recovery is possible. But seeing the Star Card right after the Sun Card is also a little concerning for me. Is this a sign that the Sun could be fading or moving away? Haedu seems pleased with this reading, my skills and talent as a Diviner. He doesn't show any emotion or concern when I tell him that there is hope, or when I suggest an alternative meaning to the Star Card. But that's just the way he is. Signed, Mr. E. | |
