I believe that studying under the geomancers is the key to repairing what had been broken. By learning to sense the earth's deepest energies, I would discover the source of the disturbance. By understanding the relationship between light and darkness, creation and destruction, I might find a way to prevent these forces from colliding. But I know this path will demand more than strength. I must learn to balance opposing energies within myself before I can hope to balance then in the world. If I allow grief to become hatred, or hope to become obsession, I may repeat the very mistake that led to the catastrophe. Power without understanding is dangerous and even the noblest intentions can bring ruin when guided by arrogance. And perhaps, if I became skilled enough, I could do more than prevent another catastrophe. I might be able to heal the land itself. I chose this path not for glory, recognition or the desire to become the most powerful among my kind. I choose it because I refuse to watch the world suffer the same fate as my home. I want to understand the relationship between opposing energies, to learn why they fall out of harmony and to restore balance where ever it has been lost. I will search for the origin of the catastrophe, master the ancient art of Geomancy, and uncover the knowledge needed to restore the balance of energies. I will seek the places where the natural forces have from unstable. learning to recognize the earliest signs of imbalance before destruction takes hold. *The Obsession That Consumes me* Yet, as my knowledge grew, so did the questions that haunted me. What had caused the energies to become unbalanced? Was the catastrophe a natural consequence of forgotten forces, or had someone deliberately disturbed the harmony that sustained our world? And why had I survived when everything around me had been destroyed? I told myself that finding the answers was necessary to restore balance. If I could uncover the source of the catastrophe, I could understand how to prevent it from happening again. If I could discover what had fractured the energies, perhaps I could finally repair what had been lost. But somewhere along the way, my pursuit of knowledge became something darker. I became obsessed with the past, unable to accept that such destruction could occur without an explanation. Every forgotten text, every ancient ruin, and every whisper of forbidden knowledge became another possibility I could not afford to ignore. I began sacrificing rest, companionship, and even my own safety for the chance to uncover a single piece of truth. Sometimes, I wonder whether I truly seek to restore the balance or whether I am simply trying to make sense of my own suffering. Perhaps I have convinced myself that if I discover the reason behind the catastrophe, I can finally free myself from the guilt of having survived it. This obsession has become my greatest weakness. I struggle to abandon a mystery, even when pursuing it puts me in danger. I find it difficult to trust those who withhold information, and I fear that my desire for answers may one day lead me to powers I do not fully understand. In my determination prevent another catastrophe, I risk becoming careless with the very balance I have sworn to protect. I know that a Geomancer must understand the forces within the world, but I am beginning to realize that understanding alone is not enough. Balance must exist within me as much as exist in nature. I cannot hope to guide opposing energies toward harmony if I allow my own grief and obsession to consume me. And yet, I cannot bring myself to stop searching. | |
