~Entry 1, Taken from a page from Hyul 131, Winter~

I was washing some of my garments today, and had to use stored water instead of making a journey to the creek to use fresh water, due to the surface being frozen over. When I moved the container to discard the dirty water, I noticed a collection of dirt and debris along the bottom.

That reminded me of a passage from the Shu Jing, where it said that the earth element contains small fragments of the other elements. I had never given that much thought, but it does appear to be true.

I saw today that flowers have began to sprout in the gardens, and my outdoor herb garden is beginning to do the same.

Days like today show me the fruits of being humble. Water never complains, yet does a lot of work. Giving life to all things, while residing in the lowest of places. I am grateful water is so tireless and giving. I cannot wait to see the blooms!

I am so glad that nature gives us so many good examples of how to live with harmony and balance. Nature always seems to find a way.

Today is such a proud day for me. I was accepted into the Divine Order. I have learned so much about the Tao, magic, karma, and have studied so hard to get where I am. Divination can be very difficult, and it often leaves my eyes sore for quite a while. They do not feel like normal tears.

I do not know everything the future holds, but I DO know that I have not mastered these concepts. I think, if anything, my graduation has granted me the title of "Student".

I have been assigned a task to learn more about Dark, Light, and Grey Diviners. I have been asked to document their viewpoints on balance, and report back with my findings.

Balance, Yin and Yang. I have spoken to many Diviners in the circle, and yet I do not believe any of us fully understand the Tao. We have some knowledge, but there must be more.

I have been sorting things in the library, now that I have taken over duties as the Divine Librarian. There are so many books with thoughts and discussions on balance. I believe I will read them all, and then revisit what I believe balance is.....and how to properly maintain it. I am glad the order has kept to many writings to share. I will do all that I can to preserve it, and to add what I learn to it.

~Entry 5, Taken from a page dated Hyul 162, Summer~

I have read every single book in the Divine Library. I have read many other books that we do not have copied. I have read scrolls, and carried on conversations. This has lead me to begin studying with other paths, seeking the truth of things.

Ikarus has been very helpful teaching me things that the Divine Order only touches on briefly. Ikarus goes into greater detail, and seems to really care about the source material. I believe that my studies regarding Wu Wei have granted me a better understanding of the Tao. The old masters were very wise. What I find most interesting is that the Divine Order does have their writings as well.

My conclusion is that reading does not equal understanding. One must not only read, we must also practice what we read, and reflect on it all. Only then may we begin to understand.

Back to the beginning. I am going to have to go over the books in the Divine Library again to see what else I have missed. This may take me several lifetimes.
