Scouting Report: Deep Woods Mantis Cave During our recent training expedition into the Deep Woods Mantis Cave near the Forest Crossroads in the Buya Woodlands, I had the opportunity to put my Tracking skills to practical use alongside my instructor, MzBitz. We entered the cave with the goals of mapping monster distribution, assessing threats, and gathering resources in a controlled manner. From the moment we stepped into the dimly lit passages, I began scanning for signs of activity?disturbed foliage, scattered chitin fragments, and faint trails left in the soft earth. My Tracking allowed me to quickly differentiate between the common Deep Woods Mantises, the burrowing Dirt Mantises, and the more aggressive Shadow and Dark variants before they could swarm us. By reading these subtle clues, I guided us toward optimal hunting lanes while steering clear of high-density clusters that might have led to overwhelming aggro. I identified the primary respawn concentrations in the Open Pasture and Meeting Field sections and noted the patrol patterns of the rarer Ghost Mantises, giving us safe windows to advance or retreat. This early detection proved invaluable, letting MzBitz focus on combat instruction and oversight while I handled reconnaissance and route planning through the denser woodland areas. The run was highly successful. We gathered useful materials including amber without any major incidents, and the experience provided excellent hands-on training. I recommend combining Tracking with Camouflage for future deeper reconnaissance, and keeping an eye on any rise in Dark Mantis activity. | |
