MzBitz and I departed at first light under clear skies, heading east across the marsh flats toward the Islet territories. The purpose the scouting trip was to assess recent ogre activity along the outer shores and to gather crafting materials for arrow production before the next patrol rotation.

Travel conditions were difficult but manageable. MzBitz proved especially useful navigating the narrow channels, identifying safer crossings that avoided deeper bog pockets.

Upon arrival near the outer ogre settlements, we established a concealed observation point among the reeds overlooking the grazing fields. Initial reports from nearby traders had suggested unusually high ogre movement, larger hunting parties, and expanded construction near the shoreline.Additional cookfires and newly cut timber reinforced our suspicion that the Islet ogres were preparing for a regional invasion.

However, after observation, our assessment changed considerably.

The ogres showed no evidence of coordinated war organization. Patrols lacked discipline, weapon stockpiles were minimal, and most labor efforts focused on crude housing construction rather than fortifications. Hunting pressure also appeared significantly higher than previous seasons, suggesting strain on local resources rather than military mobilization.

Our conclusion is that the ogres are experiencing a substantial population increase.
During the expedition, we successfully gathered several bundles of wool . Though not ideal quality for textiles, the fibers proved sufficient for arrow fletching and binding work after cleaning and drying.
MzBitz assisted in processing the materials during camp hours, and together we crafted a modest supply of serviceable arrows before beginning the return journey. Testing showed acceptable balance and flight stability at medium range.

No hostile engagement occurred during the mission. One scouting party of younger ogres approached within visible distance , but they appeared more curious than aggressive and withdrew after noticing our campfire had gone cold.

We returned without injury.
