I had been working with TaikPai to forge a new weapon, with the trips two and from piling up but a break in the process was approaching soon. Distillation being a tricky art, I knew that I would need to return after many days to finalize the weaponry as it neared completion. I was distracted on the day I was set to meet Taikpai and wound up at his shop many hours too early, still unable to get out of my own head. My hands found their way to an old amber bag that had been repaired, but not enough to support much weight. A perfect fit for my purposes.

Absentminded at first, I began running my fingers along the surface of the coins. and trying to gain insight into the fates of the day I eventually decided to toss them properly. Good practice I thought to myself, as Taikpai approached curios about the coins. I offered him a reading and he accepted, so my curiosity would evaporate as clarity sets in with the first coins being sent skyward in dramatic fashion. The first round of flips yielded two tails and one heads. The next set of coins found themselves as one heads and two tails again, Taikpai watching curiosly and unsure of what to think. The third flip reversed fate and wound up with two tails and one heads, denoting the first hexagram as pond.

My fourth flips resulted in two tails and one heads result, as Taikpai was settling in to his lunch brought by another seeker of his artisan skills. The fifth set of coins crashed down chaotically and rolled precariously before settling onto two tails and one heads. The final set of flips concluded in another result of two tails and one heads making the resulting hexagram wind.

Consulting my training and scrolls, I explained to Taikpai his results were Pond for the upper hexagram and wind for the lower hexagram which would mean Ta Kuo.
Exceeding what is Great ? extraordinary developments, flexibility, and caution. Pond over Wind/wood, a single tree grows in the middle of the Pond. Expect some difficulties, but maintain the ability to be flexible and great success will happen. Be cautious but trust your instincts. Extraordinary times require extraordinary measures.

Taikpai chuckled and pointed to his own forge "I would never have foreseen this path for myself, but despite that I have found great success here in adapting to help meet the needs of theese kingdoms. I suppose I am very grateful to have trusted my gut with this town, its people, and  the wider kingdoms as well now as business flourishes." His bowl now empty, he thanked me for the reading and got up to return to his work.
