 And then it was autumn.

The past six months had seen Brine become a valuable
asset to Tusk's ever-evolving operation.
The streets came to know her as the company's "wild card".

Delinquents feared her - as did every barkeep in town.
Rival gangs all had their eyes on her.

 Good or bad, it made no difference;
Brine lived for the attention.

Behind the scenes, Feihua's rigid tutelage had slowly
transformed her into something of a refined menace.

The woman had taught her basic yoga and seduction skills.
She'd also taught her to sing.
All of a sudden, the girl knew how to use her charisma
to her advantage (although this would still get her in
trouble on occasion).

And her repertoire only kept on growing.

Somewhere along the way, the big man himself had proudly
assigned her the role of bodyguard, which required her to
join him everywhere he went - watching everything he did.

 ... Everything.

But she didn't mind too terribly.

She got to unwind every Saturday, like any other goon.
Shake out her pent-up anger on stage (late-night crowds
loved her). Hit up Spritzer afterwards.

All things considered, Brine was at the top of the
underworld - to the extent that she could be.

Other days - such as this one - she was stuck resolving
petty squabbles in the VIP lounge.

Two of Tusk's lovers were fighting over the last box of
premium mint chocolates, while the other four in the room
blissfully went on with their beauty routines.

"My GOD, girls - it's JUST CHOCOLATE!"

Brine's words fell on deaf ears, the two women busy
pointing table knifes at each other.
She stood in the middle - occasionally having to duck.

"Stupid Min-Min! You always do this!"
One of them hissed at the other.
"Was it not enough to use MY shampoo on
    your pet piggy?!"

"Oh, be quiet! You look like you ATE yours!
...Would someone tell this white beast
    to stop staring?!"

   "E-Erk...!"

Brine sputtered at the insult.
She couldn't tell if she meant her hair or her skin.

It's not like she was permitted to mouth off to this one,
anyway - so instead, she snatched the candy box out of
Min-Min's grasp to check the label.

"... This LITERALLY has Feihua's name on it."

   "So what? She gets all the special treatment;
our husband can just send YOU to get her more!"
   Min-Min leered at Brine.

It was getting harder to hold her tongue.

"And anyway, I'm only doing Ms. Feihua a favor,"
   the lady chirped on.
"I heard she's been trying to watch her figure,
what with the baby on its way and all..."

 Brine reeled in disbelief.
She was having a kid with the guy? Seriously?

The girl silently dreaded the idea of having to add
babysitting to her bodyguard duties, while the two wives
continued to bicker over chocolate.

Then the door burst open. Yet again, pinstripes.
By the look on his face, it seemed to be urgent.

    "Brine. Downstairs - now."
